Maywood Holdings, Maywood International Sales and Maywood Maritime are sucessors to the G.A. Wiegand Company, founded in New Orleans in 1892.

G.A. Wiegand Company was the original exclusive distributor for Best Foods Company, John Morrell & Co., California Bean Growers Association, Robinson Fisheries Co., Societe L'Abeille (France), Calfornia Packing Corp.(Del Monte Brands), California Conserving Co. (now Hunts Food Corporation), Kraft Cheese Co., and Wisconsin Cheese Producers Federation, among others.

In addition to distributing to the Domestic United States market the Company exported a wide variety of foodstuffs to the Caribbean and Central America. During the 1940's the company diversified into the Baking & Canning industries, and through a subsidiary in Mexico into the production of fresh fruit and vegetables for export to the United States, Europe and Japan.

In 1972 all of the activities of the Group were consolidated under one name - Maywood Holdings Inc. Maywood's focus is on origination, distribution and export of a wide variety of food and grain from the United States and worldwide origins to its customers in Latin America, Africa, Europe, Middle East & Asia.
